Brake booster in and some paint stripping.
So I reinstalled the brake booster. Probably the most frustrating job so far. Removing it was actually a little easier. Ok getting the exhaust out without cutting it was more fun.
I enlarged the top 2 holes with a file so getting it in was not hard. The top right hole is pretty small and the top left hole just needs to accommodate the angle. 3 test fits and it went in. Tightening the nuts was the rough part. There are four. The bottom 2 are easy. A wobble socket wrapped in electric tape helps. Also i used SAE socket with a piece of tape inside to hold the nut into the socket because the 14mm was just a little to tight. Probably some rounding on the nuts. Do yourself a favor and blow out the metal shavings from opening up the booster holes and dust from under the dash before you lay under it. Unless you like getting that stuff in your eyes. To get to the top right nut I had to drop the steering column. 6 14mm nuts and it comes right down. Propped it up on the work light so i could lay next to it on my side. Driver seat out is a must. Then you can just access the top right nut and it will miss thread unless you lay on your side and shove your hand and press the socket straight. The top left nut will not fit through the hole which you would use to tighten it. I fed a magnetic pickup wand through the hole. Then passed nut to the magnet from underneath and spun the pickup until it threaded. Then you pass a 16" extension with a wobble socket through the hole above the steering column. 1/4 or 3/8 because 3/8 socket barely fits. Lay on your side under the dash and use the magnetic pickup wand to locate the wobble socket on the nut and you can finally tighten the last nut from roughly were your turn signal would live if the column was installed. Don't forget to install the brake switch and clip on the front of the pedal. Then push the master cylinder back onto the studs and use a 14mm open end wrench.
That I decided I didn't like the bubbling paint in the passenger strut area. I did a good job treating the drivers side but ignored the passenger and I am just not willing to leave it. I ground back about half of the paint and found light rust just at the pitting stage. It's tight in there so I will need to use the flexi attachment, cutoff wheel and carbide burr rool on my maximan die grinder to get into the corners.
