Patching the A pillar

So about an hour of trimming and I have a pretty decent patch ready to tack. I started with a piece of 2 inch tape over the hole and rubbed a pencil over the edges of the hole to mark the tape. Then I pasted the tape on some cardboard and defined the outline of the hole in pencil. Then I cut the tape and cardboard to the line. I traced around the cardboard onto 16ga metal plate. I did a rough cut with an angle grinder and a metal cutting blade. Then I trimmed the metal to the marker line. Back and fourth to the car about a dozen times to trim and refine the piece with the grinder and a metal file.

Now the hard part. I need to get patch to sit right in the hole while I get the first tack in place.

Installed the new flywheel.  Installed the new clutch.  Installed the clutch fork and throw out bearing  And then the bell housing  Installed a new transmission tailshaft seal.  I built a sled to drag it into place under the car and there's a bolt that fits the center of my jack through the center board. I may have to pull the shift cause there's exactly 19 inches under the pinch weld and thats the same to the shifter nub.

ECU Capacitors

 After replacing the fuel pump relay with one that has a clip. The car stalled and the fuel pump doesn't prime. I decided it's time to dig into the ecu. The problem exists between the ECU and the relay and since it would run for 5-7 minutes, I figured it wasn't in the wire harness especially since I went over it carefully while rewrapping the harness.  There are tons of pictures and videos of the 3 capacitors that eventually fail in the ford eec iv ECU.  I pulled my A9P and removed the 6 torx screws. Guess what, 2 of the 3 capacitors show signs of failure. You can see the wad of black goop below the blue capacitors and the green corrosion on the leg. So I ordered the capacitors off ebay for $9. I could get a hundred of each for $12 but I don't have storage for small components.

The great battle of the seat belt bolt was won.

The great battle of the seat belt bolt was won. After trying 4 different ways of removing this annoying bolt over 3 sittings, I had to take a drill and tap to it and some still remains in the hole. I sliced the head and hit  it with a old school impact driver from the top and the bottom, cut the channel wider and stuck a piece of angle iron with a pipe wrench into it. I welded a bolt to it and the bolt sheared in the middle, not even at the weld. I hammered a socket over the bolt and that just removed material. I heated it up until the paint around it bubbled. Finally I just used a 1/4 drill bit and went through it and then a 3/8 bit which is the largest I can go with a small chuck drill. Then a 7/16 tap with a 1/4 inch socket extension upsidedown to get the clearance to actually turn the tap.
