Passenger pan almost in

07/28/217

Passenger pan almost in, it sat in exactly as planned and I am now up to surface prep. No pictures since it looks like the last pics i took.

I traced the edges of the pan with marker onto the car, and I need to grind all the paint from the mating surfaces.
I am treating the bare metal with phosphoric acid which etches the metal for paint and leaves a zinc phosphorus coating which protects against flash rust. ( I later find out this only works above 50 degrees)

I also traced the sub frame and edge of the transmission tunnel onto the new pan. I can now pre drill holes in the pan to run self tapping screws into the sheet metal next to each plug weld.
I am going to paint the mating surfaces with por15 top coat and grind it back right around the plug welds. I think it will be better to have some paint between lapped panels then nothing, because all the weld through options are just weak substitutes or hazardous zinc which gives off fumes when welded.

So 1 or 2 days of grinding, drilling, painting and grinding again and I can get to the actual welding.
