More kick well and toque box brace utting

07/06/2018

So more cutting today. I cut the center of the brace, and I am glad I did because the metal behind it was just ready to fail. There are 3 layers of metal here. Top is an interior brace with spot welds around the outer edge, The 2nd layer is the floor pan. The 3rd layer is the torque box the holds the rear bolt and bushing for the control arm and also wraps around the frame rail. I am going to have to replace layer 1 and 2. I have peeled the metal back over the frame rail but the metal of the brace is thicker and i need to be careful not to cut through the torque box. That is going to be a lot of cutting to finish removing it.

On another note, I insulated the drop ceiling in the garage with this reflective bubble wrap and made a hatch for the storage space. This keeps the hot summer air up in the rafters so my A/C can now cool the space better.
