planning rust prevention

06/04/2017

Ok so I have been doing my research on rust removal and rust prevention. I have formulated a plan to treat all the pieces of my project including undercarriage.

1 degrease with standard degrease (zep or purple)
2 flap disc paint removal
2a wire cup brush on grinder for low spots and corners
3 if the part is small enough to dip, I use metal rescue bath over night
3a if the part is too large, I use loctite naval jelly brush on converter
4 cup brush on a grinder again removes any loose particles
5 acetone wipe down
6 por15 brush on top coat
6a or vht chassis black spray

If the part is getting welded the weld areas get weld through primer after step 5 on the weld face and then por15 and brush on seam sealer.

(later i revise the plan to include rustoleum rust converter, rustoleum  primer sealer and 3m short strand fiberglass with por15 on top.)
