ecu capacitors installed
So the capacitors arrived today and 1 hour and 40 minutes later they are installed and the ecu is back together. I started by cleaning the rubber coating off the backside of the ecu around the solder pads with a finish nail. Just kinda scratched around the pads until it peeled and pulled pieces off with a tweezer. I grabbed the old capacitor with pliers and touched the iron to the backside until it sizzled and then started wiggling. One leg gave out and when I heated the other side it came loose. I bought a solder sucker so I put the remaining leg in the sucker facing the board upside down hanging off the desk and heated the solder from the back until the iron sank in and then hit the sucker release button and it cleared the hole and the leg. Some legs are kinda pushed to the side of the hole and I had to get a tweezer on and wiggle while heating the back. I was using a larger flat tip rather then a point.
